Cookin’ with Charleston Cooks!

With both demonstration and participation cooking classes, beginners and experts alike will delve into an array of deliciousness with Charleston Cooks!  Our demonstration classes let you sit back and learn how to make the recipes, explaining the techniques in-depth as we go along. You still get to enjoy a generous tasting of all recipes prepared, along with a glass of wine.

During our participation classes guests have the chance to work hands-on with our instructors to create a meal. For example, during our Cooking in the Lowcountry:  Traditions with a Twist class last week, participants made a delicious meal of Blackened Fish with Sweet Pepper Relish, Shrimp Stuffed Deviled Eggs, Southern Chef’s Salad with Cowpeas, Quick Pickles, Country Ham, and Buttermilk Dressing, Vidalia Onion, Zucchini, and Carolina Plantation Fried Rice and Sweet Potato Moon Pies with Caramel Frosting.

Greeted by our talented culinary instructors and our commercial-grade cooking studio, participants are ready to get learning.  For example, did you know that the best way to cut an onion is to keep the root intact? Slice from root to end following the natural lines on the onion. Then cut across the onion in parallel direction making your way to the root and discard. This not only gives you a great dice but also helps keep the tears away!

For participation classes, we recommend that you wear comfortable clothing and closed toed shoes as you will be in the kitchen cooking with us hands-on.  Classes usually last around two hours.   You will spend most of the class cooking with us, and then sit down to enjoy all of the recipes that have been prepared.  You won’t leave hungry!

We offer a variety of classes for beginners and experts alike, from our popular Kitchen Fundamentals series to our Workshop in-depth technique classes.  We also create classes around seasonal themes or ingredients, or ones that focus on cuisines from around the world.  We usually post about 1-2 months of classes at a time.
