As Thanksgiving quickly approaches, Maverick Southern Kitchens reflects on what we are thankful for. On the top of our list is the many wonderful local purveyors we are so privileged to work with every day. Without our local purveyors we would not be able to provide the best dishes, products and experience to our guests. With that being said, our Thanksgiving Day menu highlights many local purveyors’ products. We have featured two main Turkey Day dishes for you:
Turkey: Our turkeys are from our dear friends at Keegan-Filion Farms. Keegan-Filion Farm is a working farm that raises livestock and crops in a sustainable, environmentally safe way. The farm is known for its pastured poultry that is served at some of the finest restaurants in the Lowcountry including Slightly North of Broad, Old Village Post House and High Cotton.
Pumpkin Pie: Our pumpkins we use in our tradition pumpkin pie are from Ambrose Family Farms which grows a wide variety of fruits and vegetables for the Lowcountry. Pete Ambrose has been plowing, planting, fertilizing and tending his farms since 1976. His passion for bringing fresh food to the Lowcountry has kept him in a life that many have had to relinquish as bigger farms and corporate farming have driven out the “small guys”.
