Culinary Instructor

Ask anyone who knows Emily Kimbrough and they'll tell you she's passionate about blueberries. The daughter of a farmer and the niece of an organic blueberry farmer, Emily spent every childhood summer surrounded by blueberries, farmland and animals.

She eagerly chose cooking shows over cartoons, and as a teen was often in the kitchen cooking for her family. Now, as the lead culinary instructor at Charleston Cooks! Emily enjoys teaching others about the joys of cooking using fresh seasonal ingredients.

Emily is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University with a bachelor’s degree in foodservice management and an associate’s degree in culinary arts. Prior to joining the staff at Charleston Cooks! Emily worked in restaurants and private resorts moving up the kitchen ranks from garde manger to lead line cook.

When Charleston Cooks! general manager Danielle Wecksler suggested teaching, Emily quickly adopted a new profession. "I realized after teaching just a few classes that I loved the interaction with our guests. I will not be surprised to find myself teaching for many years to come," says Kimbrough.

When she is not in the kitchen, Emily’s free time is spent running, reading cookbooks, soaking up the sun and volunteering. Unless, of course, when its blueberry season.
