Lowcountry Food Products
We are fortunate to live in the Lowcountry with so many wonderful foods made by local artisans. Here are some of our favorite packaged products we carry in the kitchen store at Charleston Cooks!:

Carolina Plantation Rice, Grits, and Cowpeas
Rice plays a significant role in our Lowcountry history, as well as on our plates today. Carolina Plantation in Darlington, SC grows an aromatic rice that smells just as good as it tastes. In addition, they produce grits the old-fashioned way by stone grinding the corn to produce superior tasting grits. The latest crop added to the family is their cowpeas, which are an essential ingredient in the classic Lowcountry dish “hoppin john”.

Rina’s Kitchen
Rina from Summerville, SC makes her jams, jellies, and preserves by hand from family recipes. Try the okra pickles or Jerusalem artichoke pickles in your martini, or the mint or pepper jelly over cream cheese. The strawberry or raspberry jam is best with fresh baked bread and a little butter!

Olde Colony Bakery
Best known for their Benne Seed Wafers, a Lowcountry favorite sweet crispy cookie laced with benne (sesame) seeds, Olde Colony Bakery in Mt. Pleasant, SC also makes the tastiest spicy Benne Cheese Zingers and Raspberry Sassy cookies.

Tidewater Marinade and Blackjack BBQ
These award-winning sauces are the creation of BBQ champion pitmaster Jimmy Hagood and his crew of Charleston, SC. The shrimp marinade is excellent for making shrimp and grits, and you will have a hard time deciding between the vinegar and the ketchup BBQ sauces. Both are delicious!

Anson Mills Grits and Carolina Gold Rice
Hailing from Columbia, SC, Anson Mills produces organic stone-ground grits from both yellow and white corn. These are the same grits served in our Maverick restaurants! Anson Mills also sells the only true Carolina Gold rice grown in South Carolina. Prized for its gold color, Carolina Gold also literally made fortunes for many in Charleston.

Charleston Cookie Company
Charleston Cooks! is proud to be the only reseller of Charleston Cookie Company cookies. Each batch is made by hand from a recipe that took generations to perfect. The Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Double Fudge, and Chocolate Chip Pecan are local favorites.

American Classic Tea
This is the only tea grown in America, out on Wadmalaw Island, SC. It is also the tea served at the White House. We just like it because here in the Lowcountry we drink a lot of sweet tea, and American Classic tea tastes the best!
