Paul Thompson
General Manager

In December 2008, the management and staff of the Old Village Post House welcomed Paul Thompson as the new general manager. Prior to joining the Maverick Southern Kitchens’ management team, Paul spent many years managing restaurants in both fine dining and casual settings.

Originally from Parkersburg, West Virginia Paul relocated to South Carolina in 1990 to assisting in the opening of Hoolihans, a restaurant formerly located in downtown Charleston. From there he held key management positions in several well known local restaurants including general manager positions at Langdon’s Restaurant and Wine Bar in Mt. Pleasant, SC and Edgar’s Restaurant at the Wild Dunes Resort and Golf Club on the Isle of Palms, SC.

As general manager at the Post House, Paul leads the operations of both the restaurant and inn, welcoming local and visiting guests to the Old Village. He enjoys meeting other local business leaders in the area and is involved in several civic organizations in the East Cooper area.

When not spending long hours at work (which isn’t often!), Paul is most likely on one of several local golf courses, where he continues to improve his already-impressive game. He also admits to having a pretty green thumb. But when weather permits, golf usually wins out over gardening for the perfect way to spend a free morning.

Now that we think of it, no wonder Paul Thompson is a natural at what he does. Whether he’s leading the team at the Post House, or teeing up on a par four, his success requires focus, patience, hard work, discipline, cautious optimism, and an occasional eye on Mother Nature.
